Can you believe it!
Front page of the "Oyster Research Institute News. No. 27, 2012, has the Loch Ryan Oyster boat, the Haematopus on its front cover! All good news I am sure, just need to tuck into the text...
Scottish Shellfish is truly on the map, and we should support the ASSG and the work that is done to put Scottish Shellfish on the map. Congratulations to the ASSG on joining the World Oyster Society, and good to maintain links to the other side of the world.
Induvidual members are welcomed, and it is FREE to join up.
Funding Support for SALSA and BRC Activities - May 2012 update
The Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA) scheme provides medium, small and micro suppliers with a robust and effective food safety approval standard that is widely recognised by regional and national organisations. For larger businesses, they may wish to achieve either the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety or the BRC Global Standard for Storage & Distribution. Certification schemes can create better market access, help manage risk, be of value, raise standards, increase confidence and provide assurance of a safe and responsible supply chain.
If your business is thinking of attaining SALSA or BRC certification for the first time, Seafish and Scottish Food Quality Certification (SFQC) can provide funding for mentoring (pre-audit) support whilst Seafood Scotland is also offering funding support for SALSA and BRC activities.
