A new category, specifically for shellfish farmers, will be included in this year’s Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards. Despite the name of the awards, entries are invited from shellfish farmers across the UK. Applications will be considered from all manner of shellfish producers, from mussels and oysters, to more experimental species such as lobsters and sea urchins. Judges will be looking for either consistent excellence in performance across the board or an exceptional achievement in a particular, perhaps pioneering, shellfish growing project.
